RESEARCH

Rektor ved RUC Poul Holm og ARKENs direktør Christian Gether

9 May 2007 the Rector of Roskilde University Poul Holm and
ARKEN’s director Christian Gether signed a three year
collaboration agreement between Roskilde University and ARKEN

Research is a strategic area for ARKEN. The purpose of the research is to generate and utilise new knowledge of art for the benefit of the museum, the actual productions, the visitors, the art world and society.

ARKEN’s research is linked with special exhibitions, the collection and with museological issues. Comprising basic and applied research, ARKEN’s research aims at generating new knowledge, insights and recognition. It holds a theory and method developing dimension. Moreover it is problem-oriented and directed towards realising concrete exhibitions or projects in relation to the collection.

ARKEN endeavours to continually strengthen the quality and the scope of the art historical research. Among the initiatives is a three-year research collaboration with Roskilde University on “the art museum of the future”.
