Research collaboration with Roskilde University

9 May 2007 the Rector of Roskilde University Poul Holm and
ARKEN’s director Christian Gether signed a three year collaboration
agreement between Roskilde University and ARKEN

On 9 May 2007 ARKEN and Roskilde University signed a three year collaboration agreement, the goal of which is to develop a new concept for museum activities.

The audience of the future demands unique experiences. And the cultural institutions face new challenges caused by the technological advances of the information society.

The agreement between ARKEN and Roskilde University includes a large-scale research project on “the art museum of the future”. The purpose is a strengthening of the ties between museum and research so that ARKEN – and museums in general – may keep abreast of developments and be able to convey cultural heritage in a relevant and appropriate manner.
The objective is for research results to open a subsequent debate both here and abroad. Thus the project concludes with an international conference and a publication.

In addition to the research project providing a theoretical foundation for ARKEN’s development, the collaboration comprises cooperation with regards to teaching and internships.
