THE ARKEN PRIZE 2006

Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset received the ARKEN Prize 2006 of DKK 100,000. The prize was awarded for the uncompromising and innovative quality and singular international level of their work.

In his speech ARKEN’s director Christian Gether said:

"Elmgreen and Dragset are awarded the ARKEN Prize for an artistic output whose stellar international level and global perspective contributes significantly to the development of a contemporary art that is experimental, innovative and stimulates debate. Their art facilitates the individual’s navigation in the modern world and it prevents contemporary art from stagnating in introvert monologue, ensuring instead that it faces the world and society at large."
