Jeppe Hein (Denmark, 1974) lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and the Städelschule in Frankfurt.
Hein’s work makes us smarter about the world in which we are a part and about ourselves. He works to create experiences through art. His works are always involved in new interactions with the viewer. We are participants in them. They exist by virtue of our engagement and physical presence.
As we move through ARKEN’s Spiral Labyrinth, the space is fractured and so is our image of ourselves. In the installation, Hein explores how little it takes to unsettle us and make us lose our bearings. Our senses are heightened and we are given a new image of ourselves, as we are made acutely aware of the importance of our bodies and our surroundings to our sense of orientation.
