Manish Arora (born 1974) is one of the seven Indian designers, which ARKEN is presenting in the exhibition INDIA : FASHION NOW. He is one of the biggest stars in the international fashion world and has been known for spectacular and humorous designs bordering on kitsch since the beginning of his career at the end of the 1990s . His signature material is sequins, which he uses in immense quantities to create dizzying patterns on his dresses.
For several years Manish Arora has been a regular feature of the fashion week in Paris, the most prestigious fashion event in the world. He was creative director of the traditional Parisian fashion house Paco Rabanne, which he was able to revitalize in the course of just two seasons, thanks not least to his sense of theatrical staging. His radiantly colored designs have been worn by a wide variety of pop stars from Rihanna and Lady Gaga through M.I.A. and Katy Perry to Danish Oh Land.
