Frequently Asked Questions
Is admission free for schools?Yes. You only pay for guided tours.
Must we announce our visit even though we do not want a guided tour?Yes. It is very important that we know how many groups are arriving, as it helps us coordinate things optimally.
Can we make the bus back immediately after the guided tour?Yes. However, please inform the guide so s/he can tailor the tour accordingly.
Can we eat our packed lunches at ARKEN?Yes. It is possible to eat packed lunches at small tables by the cloakroom. The conditions are not perfect as we can only seat two classes. Weather permitting, you can eat outside by the sand dunes and the water.
The bus to ARKEN?You may want to arrive at Ishøj Station in good time; the bus will not wait. Please note that the bus may be crowded in busy periods.
It is also possible to walk from the station which takes about twenty minutes. Link to DSB’s route planner
Can teachers visit ARKEN free of admission before the class visit? In connection with a guided tour, the teacher can contact ARKEN Education for a free, preparatory visit.
Is it possible to tailor a guided tour to special needs? We will always try to meet your specific needs. If you have been working with a specific theme related to the exhibition, please tell the guide upon your arrival. If you are looking for something more specific, please talk to ARKEN Education about it when booking the visit. This allows the guide to prepare for your visit.
How many people are allowed in one group?Max 30 people.
Can we borrow drawing equipment? If you have booked a guided tour that includes sketching, we of course supply the equipment. Otherwise we expect you to bring your own paper, drawing boards and pencils. Only pencils and crayons are allowed in the museum.
