This year, Kørner's Art Contest celebrates its 10th anniversary, and everyone is invited to the opening. Kørner's Art Contest is held every year for visual arts students from upper secondary schools in Denmark and the Faroe Islands. This year's theme is STOF (MATERIAL), and 26 works have been selected from more than 350 entries from art and design students in secondary schools throughout the country. The works range from installations and photography to collages, embroidery and knitting – all offering original and thought-provoking interpretations of the theme. With works that express personal life experiences and the times we live in, this is an exhibition that provides food for thought.
The competition was created by visual artist John Kørner, who wants to inspire young people and give them the courage to express themselves creatively. As a partner, ARKEN wants to help give young people a voice and support the next generation of artists. Kørner's Art Contest is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Children and Education, the Association of Visual Arts and Design Teachers, ARKEN and Vendsyssel Art Museum. Everyone is welcome to attend the opening.
