Come and experience a playful and unique world of knitting when LÆRKE BAGGER X ARKEN showcases personal interpretations of the ‘Inner Child’ sweater, designed by Lærke Bagger.

ARKEN will in 2025 open up for the largest solo exhibition to date with the Danish artist Frederik Næblerød (b. 1988). He is known for his uncompromising art, where he challenges with great creative power our accustomed understanding of painting and sculpture in a raw, energetic and playful style.

In May 2025, ARKEN will present an ambitious exhibition with the French artist Marguerite Humeau (b. 1986). The exhibition invites visitors into an immersive, resonant world where Humeau’s organic, sculptural works are brought to life through light and sound. Like a giant musical instrument, the works in the exhibition resonate and connect across times and places, vibrating with the rhythms of different worlds.

The Danish artist Eva Helene Pade (b. 1997) experiments with the art history of the Western world, where past and present merge into dream-like narratives. Central to Pade's artistic work is a new painterly approach to depicting female embodiment today.

Photographer Petra Kleis has photographed each of the 11 Kenyan women in the landscapes they are working to protect. The result is a series of powerful portraits that tell their stories — from the savannah to the mangrove forests, the ocean, and the rainforest. Visit the museum and gain insight into how crucial women are in halting the destruction of our natural world and creating a more sustainable future.

In April 2024, ARKEN will open the first major solo exhibition in Scandinavia featuring Indian-British artist Anish Kapoor (b. 1954), one of the world's leading contemporary artists.

In the new year, ARKEN is opening its doors to a major presentation of sharp, insightful, caring and humorous contemporary art that explores the present and encourages conversations about conflicts and crises, action and healing.

APOLONIA. Meet Apolonia Sokol and all her friends when ARKEN shows her first major solo exhibition at a museum.

The BUTTERFLY! exhibition invites you to experience ARKEN's permanent collection in a new scenography that resembles the scenery for a movie with skateparks, occupied bunkers and nightclubs. The places stand as clear memories from Esben Weile Kjær's childhood and youth. Graffiti-embellished concrete surroundings where hip streetwear was showcased, where underground parties took place and where like-minded people met. The youths' search for identity, freedom and community forms the framework for Weile Kjær's staging and curation.
