Art hosts for ARKEN's public activities

Would you like to help create sensory, inclusive and engaging encounters between people and contemporary art? ARKEN Learning & Community is looking for art hosts for the museum's workshops and public activities with a special focus on ARKEN Kids and open workshops for a broad audience.

As an art host, you will be a central part of the experience that guests encounter in the workshops. You will facilitate creative processes and conversations that invite children, young people and adults to engage in dialogue with art – not to find the right answers, but to explore, experiment and create together.

About the position

Your tasks will include:

•    Managing and facilitating ARKEN Kids and open workshop activities

•    Creating a safe and inspiring environment for participation and immersion

•    Introducing guests to the workshop activities and connecting them to the museum's current exhibitions

•    Engaging in dialogue with children, young people and adults about art and creative processes

•    Contributing to the preparation and maintenance of the workshop rooms

•    Participating in start-up meetings for new exhibitions together with the rest of the team at ARKEN Learning & Community

The position is hourly paid with varying working hours. Shifts are primarily:

•    Weekends and all school holidays in connection with ARKEN Kids (typically 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

•    Weekends and all school holidays in connection with workshop activities (typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

•    Thursday evenings in connection with workshop activities (typically 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

• Other events may occur

About you

We imagine that you:

• Are studying art, design, art history, cultural communication, teacher training or have another relevant background

•    Have an interest in contemporary art and a desire to work with art in an investigative and experimental manner

•    Have a flair for hospitality and can meet different target groups at eye level

•    Preferably have experience with workshop work, facilitation or teaching

•    Thrive in dialogue with all age groups and can create present relationships

•    Can communicate in Danish and English

•    Are responsible, welcoming and good at maintaining an overview

Experience with creative processes and materials is an advantage, but the most important thing is your curiosity, your commitment and your desire to create good encounters with the public.

We offer

•    An educational, challenging and varied job in a dynamic and inspiring museum environment

•    Relevant experience from one of Denmark's largest museums of contemporary art

•    Professional development and sparring in a committed team at ARKEN Learning & Community

•    The opportunity to work closely with contemporary art practices and changing exhibitions
