A jungle of knitted sculptures made of plastic bags hangs from the ceiling and sprawls on the floor, along with a multitude of imaginative ceramic figures and linoleum prints in colossal formats. Images and words flow in and out between each other with a richness of detail that invites you to explore every nook and cranny of the artist's conceptual world.
For artist Kenneth Rasmussen (b. 1972), art is a way of balancing, letting go of thoughts and giving his experiences and impressions form that can be shared with others and elicit inspiration. His art tells of his own life as a person with special needs, and at the same time it is full of impressions of the everyday life good and bad we all share.
Rasmussen's art involves spontaneous and free knitting with shredded plastic carrier bags, which he has knitted and crocheted for over 20 years creating colossal space installations. From his hand, there are also enormous linoleum prints and a world of ceramic figurines. He is a self-taught artist, living and working in Randers where he is affiliated affiliated with Bifrost, an artist workshop for people with developmental disabilities. Rasmussen has had solo exhibitions at Randers Kunstmuseum (2022) as well as at museums and exhibition venues in e.g. Sweden, France, Australia, New York, Japan and Germany, among others. Rasmussen has been portrayed in DR's documentary series Orginalerne.
