THIRD SPACE x RÅ Festival 2026

For the second year in a row, THIRD SPACE is visiting the RÅ Festival. This year, THIRD SPACE is participating with a sound project developed by a group of young people in collaboration with a sound artist. Prior to the festival, the young people attended a workshop at ARKEN, where they experimented with sound based on contemporary art.

RÅ Festival 2026 takes place on 11 April at Musikteatret and Forbrændingen in Albertslund. The festival is created by young people – for young people – and offers workshops, concerts, graffiti, film, dance, theatre, art and much more. In the evening, the festival continues at Forbrændingen with concerts by young artists. The festival is free and open to everyone between the ages of 13 and 24.

THIRD SPACE x Brøndby IF

Earlier this year, Brøndby IF visited ARKEN with a special exhibition of 150 iconic football shirts and portraits taken by young people from Turning Tables in Brøndby Strand. Now we meet again – this time at the stadium – when THIRD SPACE moves into Brøndby IF's Family Lounge. Here you can try the music workshop Create your sound – share your vibe, where young people from Ishøj Ungdom show you how to record, mix and share your own music. Jugadores is ready with a panna tournament, and you can hear more about how to become part of THIRD SPACE – ARKEN's new meeting place for young people in Vestegnen. The Family Lounge also offers bouncy castles, a pentathlon, guided tours, treasure hunts, competitions and a meeting with the mascot Nanok – all organised by Brøndby IF in a real stadium atmosphere for the whole family. THIRD SPACE will be at Brøndby Stadium on Saturday 8 November and Saturday 26 November from 10:00 to 14:00.

Jugadores pannaturnering
Panna tournament & Street Wear Drop

Saturday 20 September, THIRD SPACE was filled with energy when football, music and fashion came together for one intense afternoon. The Jugadores association from Glostrup invited to a panna tournament where you could show off your best tricks and compete against others. The winner walked away with a prize of DKK 1,000. Turning Tables presented a sneak peek at their brand new streetwear collection, created in collaboration with Brøndby IF. Turning Tables also provided the soundtrack for the entire day, inviting DJ Fadak, DJ duo Bayram & Mirza and DJ A, among others. The event was a collaboration between the Jugadores Association, Turning Tables Denmark and ARKEN.

Kurtis Blow
Street Culture Live

Thursday 4 September THIRD SPACE comes alive with music, art and street culture!

Hip hop legend and member of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, Kurtis Blow, hosts an exclusive rap workshop. At the same time, visitors can explore digital street art in the VR graffiti station or dive into a graffiti workshop with Azit, one of Denmark’s leading graffiti artists.

Later in the day, young talents from Vestegnen take the stage for a special Record Release Event. Headliner OTS closes the evening with their energetic and innovative sound, which has made them one of the most exciting names on the Danish hip hop scene right now.

Street Culture Live takes place in THIRD SPACE outside ARKEN on Thursday 4 September from 16:00-20:30. The event is free and open to everyone, but does not include access to the museum’s exhibitions.

The day is a collaboration between ARKEN, Glostrup Street Festival, Ishøj Ungdom, and Vestegnen Youth Leaders.

THIRD SPACE: Create your sound - share your vibe

Dreaming of making your own music or taking your sound to the next level? Ishøj Ungdomsskole organised a music camp Create your sound - share your vibe for young people between the ages of 13 and 25 on Saturday 21.06.25 in THIRD SPACE. Here you could meet other young people with the same dreams and be part of a creative community with room for everyone. The music camp started with a studio session where you learnt how to use professional tools, followed by a listening session where you could “preview” your music for the others in the community.

Divine Listick
SIXTEEN - film premiere and concert

The film SIXTEEN premiered Thursday 19.06.25 in THIRD SPACE. SIXTEEN is a short film about young people on the edge in Vestegnen. The film is produced by young people from UCN10 Brøndby and is about life changes they have experienced themselves. The film was followed by a concert with up-and-coming Vestegnen talent DIVINE LISTIC.

A new angle on football and community

From 01.05.25-09.06.25, the museum showed a photo exhibition created by four children and young people from the NGO Turning Tables in Brøndby Strand. With camera in hand, they have portrayed both Brøndby IF players and fans, providing a personal and intimate look at fan culture, football culture and community. The exhibition is part of the museum's collaboration with Brøndby IF and marks the start of a further collaboration with Turning Tables in THIRD SPACE.

Another World af Henrik Plenge Jakobsen
Another World

Another World is part of the THIRD SPACE project and is a site-specific artwork developed by Henrik Plenge Jakobsen in close process and collaboration with different groups of young people from Ishøj Ungdomsskole, where the artist and the young people had conversations and workshops over two months. Another World is inspired by the urban landscape of Vestegnen and the architecture of ARKEN and will be a sculptural environment created primarily with concrete fragments from the demolition of buildings in Vestegnen and will be reminiscent of Caspar David Friedrich's painting The Arctic Ocean. The work is a relational sanctuary that will hopefully create meetings and new communities between young people on their own terms, and is one of ARKEN's first artworks created specifically for the site and the museum's cultural context.

Students create campaigns for THIRD SPACE

As part of their studies, two 1st-year design teams from NEXT/Enghøj in Hvidovre worked on campaigns targeting young people in 2024 and 2025. Among other things, the young people have investigated how best to reach their target group and through which formats, and have prepared material for specific campaigns that inform young people about THIRD SPACE. The collaboration has been a success and will continue in 2026.

THIRD SPACE: A shared commitment

The working group for THIRD SPACE consists of members of ARKEN’s Community Board and brings together committed forces. The group contributes ideas and inputs to the development of THIRD SPACE supporting ARKEN in creating opportunities for young people to shape their own leisure life and promote the role of art as a community builder. ARKEN wants to listen more and involve more people in the museum’s work making art accessible and inspiring to everyone. The board meets three times a year, while the working group meets more frequently to support the work with THIRD SPACE.

THIRD SPACE is supported by Tuborgfondet, Nordea-fonden, Sportgoodsfonden, Region Hovedstadens Kulturpulje, Foreningen Roskilde Festival & Spar Nord Fonden
