Meet artist Monira Al Qadiri, currently showing the exhibition Chameleon, as she presents the performative lecture Magic Accomplice. In the work, she explores the life of fossils, their derived materials, and their ancient origins. Monira Al Qadiri grew up in Kuwait, where the country’s primary industry shifted within a single generation from pearl diving to oil drilling.
The lecture is followed by a conversation with art critic Mathias Kryger about the performance, Al Qadiri’s artistic practice, oil, and the role of art in light of the challenges facing society today.
Admission to the museum is required; Club ARKEN members enjoy free entry.
The talk takes place in ARKEN’s cinema.
